Hello Members, Sponsors, and Supporters,
Wow, it is hard to believe we are six months into the current CoreNet Carolinas board year! As I reflect on this time, I am hit with the realization that when we started this journey, we were all coming out of one of the most challenging years. In 2020 there were many unknowns due to the Pandemic. There were challenges at work and home, some were sick due to COVID-19, and some even lost loved ones during the process. Through it all we persevered, grew, and battled to get through it and that deserves recognition.
This year beginning with our new term in April we identified a few goals. These goals (not in order of importance) included getting back to in person events where possible while continuing to be innovative, continuing to expand Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), and continuing market expansion. Regarding in person events we were successful, hosting nine events across Greenville, Charlotte, Raleigh, Durham, and Winston Salem. These events included education programs, networking opportunities and young leader events. We were also able to hold our Annual Premier event which includes the Tech Symposium and Golf Tournament. While in person events are very important to the chapter, we were also able to continue with our virtual networking, young leader, and education programs.
For our DEI efforts we took the step of making this position a chapter board seat, as opposed to a committee only to again show the commitment the Carolinas CoreNet chapter has to this cause. We were also able to have an in-person DEI program in Durham, NC. There are plans for additional DEI events in Charlotte and other markets over the next few months.
We are the Carolinas Chapter of CoreNet Global and we see a vast opportunity to expand the chapter further than our two main hubs in Charlotte and Raleigh. While already a large chapter, we have the opportunity to be one of the biggest chapters in the organization. For this chapter year we have added a SC market lead to the board to help expand our reach in cities like Greenville, Charleston, and Columbia. Not only do we have members in these cities, but there is a strong opportunity for growth. Many of our sponsors have offices or clients in these cities as well. We hosted two successful member events in Greenville, SC with plans for more events in Charleston and Columbia. The Triad market kicked off with a bang. The chapter held a member event in the Triad at the ballpark in Winston Salem and held a fantastic Oyster Roast fall event with over 70 registered in November.
We have a lot to be thankful for in these first six months of the chapter year, but still have much to accomplish! I am extremely appreciative to serve as President of the best chapter (family) in CoreNet Global. In the coming months we will have more events both in person and virtual, including our Annual Mega Event, our Annual Core Awards ceremony, and our Virtual Contest. We appreciate the support of our Members, Sponsors, and Supporters. We look forward to a tremendous finish to the year!
Sincerely, LaMonte JohnsonCoreNet Carolinas 2021-2022 President
